Appointed Officials

The City of Camilla is a Council-Manager form of government. Under this form of government the Mayor and City Council sets policy and the City Manager implements the policies and manages the City's daily operations. The majority of boards and commissions are created by City ordinance or resolution and serve in advisory capacities to the Council and City Manager. They provide information and recommendations to inform the Council and City Manager on matters pertaining to the board and/or commission.

A few boards and commissions have specific authority to make binding decisions in certain areas such as the Zoning Board of Appeals, Historic District Commission, and Board of Appeals. These bodies typically derive their decision making authority from state laws. Each board and commission is an important part of city government. Appointees perform a public service to their community and have both obligation and opportunity to provide valuable input that helps shape their government.
